I am looking for ways to spice up the turkey burger. I know there are several places on the message boards that have ideas, but some of the pages are so long it seems to take quite a while to go through them. Any ideas would be most appreciated

I just had the turkey burger for lunch today. It is one of my favorite meals. I like to treat it as I would a regular burger - with ff mayo, mustard, lettuce, etc. I add extra pepper and do not cook the buns in the microwave, but let them thaw ahead of time. I'm sure there are many other ways to eat it, but this is my favorite way.

I posted this in the Recipe section, I really loved, was going to do it again this week but unfortunately my center was out of turkey burgers this week...go figure.
I like the turkey burger but sometimes the smell gets to me so I decided to make it into a sloppy joe, was so good!
I chopped some green pepper, saute in cooking spray while I defrosted the turkey burger. Added the turkey burger and broke it up with a wooden spoon then added about 3 tablespoons plain tomato sauce, the barbeque sauce that comes with it and some spices; italian seasoning, garlic powder and cayenne pepper. I added about 2 tablespoons ff cheese at the end and served it openfaced on both sides of the bun. It was so good! Lots of food and only added about 50 calories.

PattiLynn,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have a really hard time finding lunches I like. THe only one I can eat over and over is the stuffed potato and I am getting tired of that quickly. Thank you for the idea to make a sloppy joe out of the burger. I have a hard time liking the extra seasonings JC uses to disguise the turkey taste and adding tomato paste may help to further drowned that taste. Thanks again so much. :-)

I like to saute a large amount of onions and mushrooms, cook the burger and bun on my grill plan, then top the burger with a slice of FF Swiss cheese and all the veggies. Mmmm...
I share your pain about the lunches, but have you tried the beef chow mein? My favorite...

I can relate to the lunches as well.
I have taken the rottini and meatballs and the spinach and cheese tortellini and added chicken broth. They both make great soups.
Thanks for the recipe ideas for the turkey burger. Breaking it up into pieces sounds like a wonderful idea. Kind of like a sloppy joe.

Another thing I thought of about the lunches is take the chili con carne and make it a "taco" salad. Pour it over a bed of lettuce, add veggies, salsa, ff shredded cheese and I'll also pour ff ranch dressing. That's pretty good.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions for the turkey burger. The sloppy joe version sounds like something I would like to try.
I also tried grilling the patty and the bun and that helped a lot too.
Wishing everyone a great week!

I love the Turkey Burger and treat it like a regular hamburger as well but i'm excited about the sloppy joe version. Can't wait to try it. It's great to have another version.

I don't eat the top bun and add 1 slice of lf cheese. I also skip the bbq and make a sauce of lf mayo and salsa. You can also make the sauce with lf mayo and chutney or lf mayo and dijon.
The Beef Chow mein is great, lots of volumizing possibilities. I love the Stuffed sandwiches too, meatball and chicken. Also the chicken burrito is really good, mix plain yogurt with salsa and pour over the top after it is heated.

I was really surprised that i would like this. I put a slice of low-cal cheese on it, and mustard- it was so good!

funny i was just thinking of this yesterday how could i change it up and thought of same thing as crushing it up adding some bbq sauce or something to make it like sloppy joe sounds great or making a taco type thing out of it but no tortilla shells.
what i like to do is grill it or broil it so it gets a bit crispy on the outside as some low fat cheese, and ketchup like a burger
add onion/ lettuce tomatoe whatever you like.
sautee onions and mushrooms and top w/ light cheese.. yummer and i make sure the bun is warm.

as for the chili, same thing make a taco salad, save your fat use low fat sourcream and top over lettuce ,onions. tomatoes, peppers, top w/ salsa and sourcream yum.
that's hard for me to do at work unless i have everything ready.
i try to do the chicken and turkey burger sandwichs on the weekend.. and i do the same w/ the chicken sometimes. or just add bbq sauce i don't like the sauce they give

Add one slice low-fat cheese (substitute it for one of your milks),chopped onion, lettuce, pickles, and a tbsp low-fat or ff thousand island dressing.
Instant Big Mac...yum.
