This past week, I've tried baking some of my JC foods instead of microwaving based on recommendations from some other posters. The oven really does change the taste and texture of the food. Here are my opinions.
All pizzas and fish & chips must be baked. Of couse anything with bread (sunshine s/w, turkey burger, chicken s/w) has to have the bread toasted instead of nuked. I liked the meatball sandwich better in the oven, too; it was less mushy. The meatloaf tasted the same either way. The breakfast stuffed sandwich looked and tasted completely different in the oven: the bread rose and the sandwich was larger, but I think I prefer the taste of the flatter microwaved version.
One of my favorite things, dieting or not, is the JC macaroni and cheese. I think JC makes fantastic macaroni. I found that cooking it in the oven destroyed it. What a disappointment! I will never do that again.
Which items do you prefer prepared in the oven? Which in the microwave?

I like everything better in the oven, but the plastic containers ALWAYS melt. I don't have any bakeware really, so I just gave up and continued to microwave...oh well.

Hey Erika,
Since I use a toaster oven (don't want to heat up the house any more than necessary here in Florida!), I was having trouble with melting containers too. Then I figuered out the way to stop it.
Just peel the plastic off the top of the container, and wrap the whole thing in a piece of foil. Cook just like normal and it should be fine!
Hope that helps!!

My 2 cents... ALL are better in the oven... I don't have time in the mornings to cook breakfast in the oven cuz I go to the trainer... but everything is else is WONDERFUL!!!... I do the turkey burger and fajitas on the stovetop!

If you don't want to heat up the house, try microwaving the pocket sandwiches and chicken sandwich first, then brown in skillet with Pam spray. It gives all three a much better taste.

I've started using the oven this week too, since the weather isn't as warm.
I agree that most of the items I've tried are better in the oven, except the mac n cheese, liked that better from the microwave. Sadly, all lunches have to be nuked since there is no oven at work.

Morning everyone!! I too prefer some things in the over, and I've never had the container melt. All ovens are different though!! What I have discovered is things on the grill or in a grill pan with a little PAM on it. The grill outside has been great. I grill my Turkey burger as well as the bun, I even have grilled the Pizzas..you have to watch those close though, they will burn easily. Just something you might want to try!! You guys have a great rest of the week.

For the meatball stuffed sandwich & the chicken stuffed sandwich, I microwave it and then put it in the toaster oven so the outside gets a little on the crunchy side...so much better than microwave alone!!!! I have only used the oven to cook the pizzas, I'll have to try the oven on other foods!!!

I bake everything too!!
What I do is remove the food from the plastic dish and put it in a glass bakeware. I use PAM spray to prevent the food from sticking.
Baked food is definitely better tasting.
