Full Version: Selecting foods for a personalized menu
Jenny Craig > Food and Dining Out > Favorite Foods
nosurgkid
Hi Everyone,
I've been eating foods from the planned menu for the past 3 weeks and will be ordering food this Thursday and would like to start personalizing my menu. The problem is that the foods I received for week 3&4 where the same as the ones from week 1&2, so I have basically been eating the same stuff. I thought that week 3&4's food would be different so that I could be able to sample more selections before going to a personalized menu but they were not. Therefore, I'd like some feedback on the items listed below because I am considering ordering them on Thursday. Please let me know if you absolute love/like them or can't stand them.
I truly appreciate your comments. Thanks in advance for your reply and continued success to you all.

What is good for some is abhorred by others, so try for yourself, but here are my 2 cents:
1. Chicken Sandwich - toast bun and nuke chicken - much better this way
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - yum!
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup surprisingly filling!
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles so-so
5. Swedish Meatballs good! add mushrooms!
6. Lentils with Beef pass
7. Pasta Fagioli YUMMO!!!
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza COOK IN THE OVEN IS A MUST (ALL THE PIZZA'S) - AND THIS IS A HOME RUN!
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - good!
Again, my 2 cents worth!

Agree that you should try everything once for yourself, but I can't resist this sort of thing. So fun to see what everyone thinks.
1. Chicken Sandwich - Yum. Don't overcook.Chicken is rubbery if you do.
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - Yum. Use the oven not the microwave.
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup - Yum.
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles - Metz-a-metz
5. Swedish Meatballs - Love it!
6. Lentils with Beef - Mmm. No.
7. Pasta Fagioli - Yum! I add chicken stock and make it into a big bowl of soup. A hunk of bread for the +1 starch.
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - Yum. Another one for the conventional oven tho.
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - Yum. On top of yogurt and fruit. Keeps me full til lunch time.

Hi kaci, thanks for your reply. Can you tell me what "metz-a-metz" means.
Thanks,

2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - too doughy.
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup - trying this for the first time this week, but I'm told it's popular
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles - never had it.
5. Swedish Meatballs - never had it.
6. Lentils with Beef - never had it.
7. Pasta Fagioli - love it.
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - love it.
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - love it.
They only have 2 planned menus - week 1 and week 2, but I guess you know that now! I have planning my own menus since week 2.
My favorite items are:
Salisbury Steak
Pesto Pizza
Fish & Chips
Penne Pasta
Vegetable Potstickers
Have fun!

Chicken Sandwich -- yummmmy, especially when you toast the bun, and add slices of tomato onion lettuce pickle etc.
Meatball Stuffed Sandwich -- dee lish!!!
Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup -- enjoyed it, but felt it was over priced
Homestyle Chicken with Noodles -- it was okay
Swedish Meatballs -- very good, wanted to lick the plate!
Lentils with Beef -- haven't tried it
Pasta Fagioli -- good, very filling
Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza -- love it, but I prefer it when cooked in the oven
Fruit & Granola Cereal -- it's ok

Everyone's taste is different, so I would say order as long as it does not have something you hate normally (like beans I hate, so I never ordered the Bean and Ham soup). But here is my opinions if you want them
1. Chicken Sandwich - Good
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - Love it!
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup - Never tried it
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles - Love it! Especially like the Meat and 1/2 starch you get with it so I can add cheese and croutons to my salad
5. Swedish Meatballs - Love it!
6. Lentils with Beef - Never tried it
7. Pasta Fagioli - Never tried it
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - Love it!
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - Good!
You just reminded me I need to order Fruit and Granola and Swedish meatballs, haven't had them in awhile!

Chicken Sandwich Cooking Tip:
I have found the fastest yet tasty way to fix the chicken sandwich is to microwave it first, then brown it in a skillet using Pam spray. It really browns nicely and tastes more like what you get at a restaurant.
I agree with what others say about the bun.

1. Chicken Sandwich - tried it twice, didn't care for it.
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - LOVE IT. I order it twice a week. My substitute for pepperoni pizza hot pockets.
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup- haven't tried. not a soup person
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles-see #3
5. Swedish Meatballs- they are shelf stable... yuck!
6. Lentils with Beef-?
7. Pasta Fagioli-?
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza- it is the best tasting of all of the jenny pizzas but I am not crazy about it. I would rate it as a "like it"
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal- this is prepared like oatmeal. Served warm. I like it.

I love this stuff too. Here's my thoughts.
1. Chicken Sandwich - I really like this but, I find that I do need my salad with these types of sandwiches.
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - This is great but, I need the salad again. The crust is nice because it's seasoned with herbs.
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup - I've never had this.
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles -I've never had this either.
5. Swedish Meatballs - It ok. I get it when I need a change.
6. Lentils with Beef - I really like this one. It might also be good over salad.
7. Pasta Fagioli - Never tried.
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - This is a favorite. I add veggies to make it more filling and I can't imagine not using the oven. It's the only way I've had this. 9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - My absolutley favorite breakfast. I mix it with yogurt and I love it. It keeps me full for quite a while.

Tourgirl
the responses to the swedish meatballs is so funny. I had them the first time today and couldent get past half of it. i had to brush my teeth to get the taste out! Now what do i do?? extra big salad i guess lol
Flova
Swedish Meatballs - IDK how they have NOT discontinued this item yet!! I ordered it once and did not get a quarter of the way through it!

I see many others complaining too, yet its still available, and they discontinue other items that were sooooo good. The Thai Lemongrass Chicken with Noodles "was" yummy! oh well.
Tourgirl
ugh. I had my chicken salad for the first time today.
I ate the whole thing, but i wont get it agian. it wasent the worst for sure, but its very small.
WorknIt
I've been trying everything at least once just to know for my own tastebuds if I like it or not.
It is fun to "plan and shop" for meals each week. I do like the variety of foods JC offers. I'm not a super picky eater- although some items are NOT favorites. If a meal seems bland- I add spices and seasonings and that helps.

Have fun- shop and try different JC foods!

Here's my 2 cents:
1. Chicken Sandwich - love it - have it once a week - usually add veggies to it
5. Swedish Meatballs - it's good; it's better if you add mushrooms and onions to it (I saute them in a pan sprayed with butter-flavor Pam)
7. Pasta Fagioli - yummy as is!
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - prefer the BBQ Chicken and the Personal Pizza to this one
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - it's OK, prefer the Triple Grain Crisps

Best regards!

1. Chicken Sandwich - love it and it's versatile you can top it with lots of different things
2. Meatball Stuffed Sandwich - is decent.. if you dip it in red sauce it makes it better
3. Bean with Ham and Bacon Soup - my center doesn't have this anymore
4. Homestyle Chicken with Noodles - haven't tried it
5. Swedish Meatballs - haven't tried it but it was listed a lot in the worst foods post
6. Lentils with Beef - haven't tried it
7. Pasta Fagioli - haven't tried it
8. Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza - pretty good
9. Fruit & Granola Cereal - I just tried this two days ago. I cooked it like it said and I hated it. I was harder than oatmeal. Like cardboard. I never tried granola cooked before but I figured I should try it how they intended.. yuck. I think i'd rather eat it uncooked with milk or yogurt. I would probably be really good uncooked. The cranberry almond cereal is good too.

I generally stay away from the shelf stable foods, except for the chili con carne. They just don't taste as good as the frozen.
