Full Version: Salmon is temporary?

I was at my JC center last night, and someone asked why the salmon (and the two new soups) haven't been added to the menu. The consultants said that these are temporary items and that they might be around a week, two weeks, a month, whatever, but not permanently -- unless JC decides to make them permanent. That was disappointing, because I really like the salmon.

That's what my consultant told me as well. Also, if you look at the list of foods somewhere on the JC website, there's a little symbol next to the Salmon & the soups that states that these are limited time foods.
I think it's a way for them to test different food out & see if their clients like it or not.

You can, when you are doing MOMO, find something very similar from your grocery store. I believe its Gordon's brand (yellow box; Van De Camps is blue I think, lol)...They make grilled salmon (plain and lemon butter) that have 100 calories per piece. The have other flavors of grilled fish (Italian Herb, e.g.), but these are Cod...
Anyway, you can get a bit of terryiki sauce, add to the grilled salmon plain one...make a serving of brown rice (measure it out to get 1 serving of 100 calories or so....)...Make a stir-fry of some chinese veggies (or whatever) with a dash of the terryiki sauce and viola - a JC meal between 225-300 calories (depends on amount of terriyaki suace you use and rice volume)...Perfect JC meal!

Thanks, Jen. I will definitely do that when the salmon is gone. I really wish they'd keep it, though.

Here is the site with the Jenny Craig food listed as temp items http://www.jennycraig.com/food/
I sure hope they keep the salmon and both soups!

I liked the salmon too. Although I overcooked it a bit the first time. I guess I understand that they "test" foods to see what people want, but it is disappointing when you find something you really like and they yank it away! They did that with the chicken carbonara, which I LOVED!!!
I have tried the LC version and it is very good too. Not to mention half the price!

I thought the salmon was absolutely the most awful thing I've ever tasted in my life. Seriously!! I was honestly surprised to read that anyone actually liked it. When I cooked it, it smelled awful. When I tasted it, it was just nasty. I had to throw the meal away. It was very disappointing to me because I love salmon. I couldn't figure out what the Jenny people had done to make this taste so awful. I told my consultant, and she just kinda blew it off "I don't like fish, so I never tasted it". Even when I told her about the smell, she didn't seem surprised at all. I don't know if I got some spoiled food or what, but it was definitely a bad experience for me.

In the canned tuna section of the store there is this pouch stuff by "bumble bee" teriyaki salmon--which was pretty good, just heat and serve for 160 cals.

I am glad the salmon is temporary but hopefully the soups are not. I wasn't thrilled with the salmon. Never had it but i tried it.
My consultant told me they have to update their menus so they can show the soups and salmon so i am wondering if the temporary thing is a regional issue. My consultant would have told me it was going to be temporary but she said they were updating their menus and should be ready in a few weeks.

Man I really like the Salmon! That's gonna blow if they yank it!

I went to order the salmon last week and was told that it wasn't available anymore! I really liked it too. Not sure if they pulled it or it was just so popular that they ran out of stock. I'm going to try Jenrdn65 suggested, although my JCC is not very into me doing my own thing. I asked about having 100 pack wheat thins and oreo crisps and she said I should wait until I'm at halfway! I'm not really into buying the veggie chips and sourdough pretzels they have and they are both more calories and fat than the 100 calorie packs! Anyway back to the point of the thread, I did like the salmon, but they don't have it at my center anymore!

I hated the salmon. It was like a brick of tasteless pink cardboard. And it smelled too "fishy." I LOVE salmon nornally, and when not on JC, would buy it fresh and cook it at least a couple times a week.
This is one meal I won't have again.

The two new soups I will not miss, but I really liked the salmon. I am not a big salmon eater, but I loved the sweet sauce over it.

I loved the salmon. It was a nice change from pasta which is all I really get to eat since I don't eat chicken or beef. I asked about it last night and they said they will bring it back if they get a great response from people.
