I am unsure if I will be able to continue this. I dont think of myself as really picky but I have been very disappointed in the food. First of all, much of it tastes stale. Secondly, I hate most of the meat I have had, with the exception of the turkey which is artifical tasting, but I can handle it. The tuna and chicken salad were disgusting as was the vegetable soup. I do like the cereals I have had (granola and multi grain) and also the desserts. I want to stay on the program, but Im not sure I can because of the lack of food that I like. Anybody that has anything they really liked, please share. Thanks

Everybody has different taste, some people love the potato soup and I can't touch it with a 10 foot pole...
What did you used to eat before starting JC? Did you cook all your meals from scratch, or did you use any kind of preapred meals?
What kind of meat do you like to eat?

My favorites are:
Meat Loaf with BBQ Sauce, Beef Chow Mein (really good evn if you don't like Chinese food; Penne Pasta, Chicken Fajitas, Fish and Chips; Traditional Lasagna. On the Fish and Chips, I zap them in the microwave and then crisp them up in a non-stick pan with a little cooking spray. I do the same thing with the chicken and peppers for Chicken Fajitas plus I heat the tortillas in a skillet too. The French Toast and the Pancakes and Sausage are good too. Muffins are great too. I haven't tried the egg scramble but a guy in the center today said it was real good. After two weeks you can pick your own food. I like the frozen entrees better than the non-frozen ones. Then there is the Lemon Cake....yum yum yum! You can do it. Try other foods and you too will find the ones you like too! Good Luck!

Frankly and honestly, I find the jenny food gross and a terrible value for the money ($4.99 for 35 cents worth of chicken alfredo??)
I don't tell my consultant so as not to hurt her feelings, but I mostly make my own meals based on the exchanges that show on the back of the menu and the Jenny grocery list. I've been doing this for two weeks and I'm still losing weight just fine. I think as long as I stick to the portions and keep the salt and fat way low, it's okay.
I've been having fun making up my own recipes, and using free foods to fill in gaps, and I do use some Jenny foods (mostly snacks) when my sweet/junk food tooth kicks up.
It's much more work this way, but I'd rather put in the hours and have really delicious food that is to my taste.
If I find I stop losing weight or have problems, I'll go back to trying to dress up the Jenny food to make it palatable. But it seems to me that, for the amount of time and expense I spent trying to dress up the prepackaged food, it's not any more work to just make mine from scratch. Also I think the long term benefit of learning to eat in the program on my own will be really good when I get to goal weight.
Sorry for the long post - hope I haven't offended anyone!

You just have to watch the sodium content on the Lean Cuisines and other entrées... most are a lot higher in sodium than the JC Entrées.

The Florentine Ravioli is one of my favorite dinners. I also like: banana nut muffins, pesto pizza, chow mein, beef steak portebello (really good). I like the frozen stuff much better than the shelf stable. But of the shelf stable, I like the Turkey chili.

I liked the florentine raviola UNTIL I saw that you only got three of these little babies for your serving. Haven't touched it again after that first time. Principle I guess!
As for the LC vs JC, also check the protein level and make sure that your meal has enough of it. My consultant told me she didn't want me to eat the LC because of that and suggested another brand (cdn) that I should use instead. For you canucks, it's the Blue Label President's Choice meals.

I like the florentine ravioli except for the vegetables in there - I hate crunchy vegetables. I always throw them away and cook up some canned low-sodium green beans instead. Yes, 3 little raviolis is sad! but again, as long as I am always feeling hungry then I like to think I'm losing weight - so I try to look forward to feeling hungry to know that I'm doing the right thing!!

I definetly agree that frozen is the way to go rather than shelf stable... The only shelf stable items I can handle are the Island Chicken(one of my faves actually) and the Turkey Chili. Otherwise...Everything else tastes like something Chef Boy Ardee would make. EWWW.
I like most of the frozen items, though...but a few of them do require a bit more spices...

Im with you guys, some of the food is not tolerable. It is really hard. I happen to be having a very hard time. I have tried to stick with it but am slipping. Im a very picky eater ( except for fast food- hence the jennycraig diet) so this is real tough. the lunches are the worst. i have lost 11 pds in 6 weeks but am super disappointed.

I totally agree. Years ago this food would have been classified as good, however now people have educated their palate more especially with the onset of the Food Network. Jenny needs to revisit their foods and update the tastes. I will choose my favorites and stick with those because in the long run it is about losing weight. Loving the food is an added bonus.

JC food is EXCELLENT compared to Nutrisystem or WW... I've tried all 3. K
Just keep trying things and one rule of thumb.... avoid the shelf stable foods, the frozen are much better. Also, look around for little tricks to doctor certain foods up.
And lets face it... we're doing this to loose weight... everything isn't supposed to be loaded with fats, salt & sugars.... that's how we got here in the first place, right?
Keep trying

Some of the shelf foods are my absolute favs. The pasta fagioli and rotini are 2 examples. I also like the chicken pasta one. What I don't like are the canned foods (the ravioli lunch). The chili tasted ok but it made me really sick so I won't order that one again.

I love most of the food. I could not stay on it if I didn't. I did nutri-system years ago and hated the food. I just don't think a diet will work if you dislike the food.
How long have you been on it? Why not try everything and if you really dislike most of the food then you will at least know a bit about portion control in the few weeks it will take to sample all of the dishes. Maybe JC isn't right for you --do you want to cook your own meals? Maybe WW would be a better choice for you. Good luck!

You listed the few foods that I can't stand on this plan. I'm loving the food. The Beef Chow Mein, Chicken Fajitas, Silver Dollar Pancakes, French Toast, Lasagna, etc
The soups are pretty awful as is most of the shelf food, so I'd steer clear of those. It's all about changing up the food with some of the "free" foods It makes all the difference.

As someone who has been on JC for almost 2 years, I certainly empathize with those of you who are finding the food difficult to swallow. I am picky and tire easily of certain foods, and I develop aversions easily too. One of my solutions is to follow in Jared's footsteps and eat Subway. I very often substitute a 6-inch turkey sub for my lunch, as I find the JC lunches to be the least appealing. I also take breaks, where I try to eat on my own instead of the JC foods. I am not great with exchanges, so I cheat and use calories instead, but it works. Also, as has been previously mentioned, add stuff! The fajitas, enchiladas, burrito, and turkey chili all greatly benefit from a lot of hot salsa and some ff sour cream. At this point, there are only a few things that I like, so I just eat them often and eat broiled chicken or fish when I go out.
Stick with it! =-)

My all-time favourite is the turkey burger !! I also love the rotini w/ meatballs, the lentils and beef, the mashed potatoes w/ beef & gravy - basically anything w/ carbs !! The only one I can't handle is the island chicken - to me it tastes funny, but if I'm hungry enough I will eat it w/ lots of vegs. Not too crazy about the garden veg soup, but love the potato and garlic (helps that I even get a small roll w/ meat) !! Again, those carbs... Lost 19.8 so far (2 1/2 months) - the .2 is being very elusive, but will kick in eventually (I really need to see the 20 lb mark - getting a bit depressed) - weigh in Saturday and promised myself I will not look at scale and don't want my JC counsellor to tell me either. Keep fingers crossed - happy eating to all. Deb
