I just had the penne pasta (frozen food) lunch and I was suprised at how big the portion was - and it was really delicious!
I had some steamed broccoli on the side (another favorite of mine) and that was such a filling lunch!
I tell ya, I've never eaten so much pasta (I enjoy pasta) and still manage to lose weight every single week. JC is a godsent!!!

The penne pasta is one of my favourites. You get so much and it is very filling. You definitely feel satisfied after finishing this meal.

Trix, my menu planner shows Penny Pasta as a frozen dinner, is there another one?

It is quite possible that Trix chose to eat her dinner for lunch. This is something I do quite often (switching the meals around). As long as you have a one dinner and one lunch per day, it seems to be okay as you remain calorie balanced.

I always eat my lunch at dinner time and my dinner meal at lunch time. I have a better weight loss that way. I don't care to be too full in the evening. I seem to be hungrier at noon so this works for me.

I do that also, usually have a dinner at lunch as I'm not able to supplement it with a lot of veggies at work like I am at home. It all adds up to the same at the end of the day.

Hi girls,
Penne Pasta is a "lunch" on the 1500 cals menu (preplanned) week 3. I'm on 1500 calories.
Perhaps it is used as a "dinner" meal for the 1200 calories menu?
Just wondering...
I just specified "frozen" because some people might not know that it's a frozen food (if they are just browsing the site and are not yet JC members)

I am on the 1500 menu plan (personalized) and the Penne Pasta comes up as a Dinner (not lunch) for me. I did do planned menus in my first three weeks and never even gave it thought but on your 7th day you are given two dinners... strange. Must have something to do with calorie balancing perhaps since the Honey Oat Bar is the breakfast.

I calculated the calories for that specific day with my fitday software (and I had French toast for breakfast, I do not like the honey oats bar - I'm not a "bar" kinda person and I find it too dry), and with everything I ate on that day, including the penne for lunch and the turkey dinner etc... the total came to a few calories below 1,500 calories. Most days I'm over the 1,500 calories actually and on those days I have a "JC lunch" and a "JC dinner".
So I'm right on track. I was also surprised to see it as a lunch since it's 280 calories and that would normally be a dinner, but the total calories for the day is fine and I'll be having it for lunch again on that day (week 6 next time) or for dinner some other night before then, as I just stick to the preplanned menu and switch the odd thing (food allergies & a few items I don't like at all) with the help of my consultant and it keeps me at the 1,500 calories level just fine

I haven't had that one yet, but the other pasta dishes have been really good. The spinach tortellini and the chicken pasta parmasean are really good. The sauce reminds me of the chef boyardee sauce. It's really good.

This is one of my favourites. I am thankful it is portion controlled because I know that I would be able to eat twice as much if the opportunity was there. This is a "must-try" entree.

I love it too - very filling! You also need to try the Mac and Cheese if you like the penne. It really is almost as good as Kraft!!

I switch my lunches and dinners a lot. I’d rather have a big meal during the day and a lighter meal at night. Also, some things are easier to eat at home than at work, like the cheese & broccoli potato.

I've been staying away from the pasta with tomato based sauces. Now I know why- someone compared the sauce to Chef Boyardee. I guess I'm not wild about the spices they use.

I find that true with the shelf stable meals but not the frozen ones.

I've asked again at my center and it is allowed to use it either as lunch or dinner.
And the sauce in this frozen entrée does not taste like Chef Boyardee at all. The tortelinis however (shelf stable item) does remind me of the Boyardee stuff.
