Hi,
I am new to this message board thing. I have been on Jenny Direct since Nov 18 and find myself bored with the food. Can anyone help me? I am on 2 week shelf safe, 2 week frozen. I have only lost 12 lbs in 14 weeks. I find it getting easier to 'skip' meals and eat out.

Connie -- funny you should bring up this topic. We were discussing this in another thread today (Fortunately 40) and this was what I posted.
"My consultant and I talked about this last week because one of her other clients brought it up to her that same day. I've been on the program since last August and haven't found myself bored with the food at all. Sometimes I max out on one particular dish and won't order it for a few weeks, but I try very hard to order a variety of things each week and, even when I was newer in the program I still ate out at least once per week to break things up. What my consultant said to me about it really made sense. She said she asked her other client to think about it honestly. BEFORE she was on Jenny Craig, was she bored with what she ate? After thinking about it for a few minutes, the client admitted that she had *indeed* been bored with everything she had been eating before. She was tired of fast food, was tired of the same meals at dinner time, the same sandwiches at lunch, etc. In other words, we can get bored eating anything, not just JC foods."
Anyway -- try mixing up your choices each week so that you are not eating the same things at the same time on the same day every week. Add sauces or dressings to some of the dishes to give them some different flavors.
Hope this helps.

I've found ways to substitute things when I REALLY crave something. For example: I REALLY wanted a grilled cheeses sandwich last week. Lunch was the potato soup and I skipped the extra 1/2 roll and marg. Later in the afternoon, I had my afternoon snack sandwich with two pieces of bread (one from lunch, one from the sandwich) 1 oz of american cheese and 2 tsp of marg. (one from the lunch and one in place of the mayo from the sandwich).
And everyother week, I pick a day and don't eat all the fats and then melt the corresponding amount of real butter on my JC popcorn.
Things like this keep me from hitting the drive-thru.

I have been an Jenny Craig for 8 weeks now. I am really getting bored with the foods. It has nothing to do with eating the same foods over and over because I make sure I do not eat the same foods 2 weeks in a row. My consultant suggested that I try the message board for suggestion sof ways to enhance the entrees. Any suggestions out there?

What types of flavors/foods do you like and what foods do you order? We may be able to help with some suggestions based on your preferences and what you order.

I've been on the program since last May, and have yet to be bored. I think most of this "boredom" is psychological.
How many of us when we weren't on JC would eat basically the same foods each week? Let's be real. Did you really eat a different entree every day of the week for most of your life?
Buy a JC cookbook or look for cookbooks that give you exchanges. Try something from JC that you wouldn't normally eat. Switch your lunches for dinners.

Quite honestly, I'm sick of JC food. I've been on the plan since Aug. 2004 and I'm on a roller coaster here with the weight. Going to get hormones and thyroid checked, but I'm just sick of the food. I can't make myself eat 3 meals a day of it. I eat JC for breakfast most days. I eat the dinners about 3 nights a week, but I'm sick and tired of the lunches. I've been substituting lean cuisines and meals on my own for lunch.

I agree OldShirley. I find the JC lunches the hardest to eat. They just don't appeal to me either! I've been making salads instead.

On another thread, someone asked when more new foods were coming out and the dietician responded THIS Fall. The dietician also responded:
You can provide any feedback on foods you would like to see added by calling the Customer Service line at 1-800-JennyCare.
I called this number and spoke to a JC rep. who was very helpful, but did say from what he could find--NO new foods would be coming out until fall 2005.

I'm with ya on not liking the lunches - there are only a couple that I really like and I'm sick of them!! I think a half of a turkey sub from Subway (no cheese, no mayo) is about the equivalent of a JC lunch so maybe we should start having that a couple times a week!

to be honest with everyone, i find that when
i am sticking to the program i am successful, and when i start substituing other foods for the jenny meals my weight loss is slower. i just say do it and get if over with or you will be on it longer than you thinkg.

I agree I am getting tired of the food and my weight is stuck! So I am just ordering the breakfast and lunches and trying to do dinners on my own. This week was my first week doing that and I feel like I gained again but I haven't been exersicing. My last 4 weeks have been frustrating I just need to loose 2+ and I will be jazzed up again.

The menu has enough foods I enjoy so I don't get bored. But I saw that someone mentioned hoping for smoothies to be included in the menu. I eat a smoothie every day. You can all have smoothies! Here is how I make mine.
Combine all your fruits for the day (I buy the frozen mixed fruits, but you could use fresh)
1 yogurt
Flavored sugar free water or diet fruit flavored soda (optional and according to the thickness you prefer for the smoothie)
I also add some splenda because I like it sweet. It tastes like fruity ice cream if you make it thick. I eat mine with a spoon!

I see a lot of you are substituting your own meals, etc. for the Jenny meals. Say I wanted to do one or two lunches on my own per week. Do I still have to buy seven days of Jenny meals?

Hi - you're doing great 12 lbs. in 14 weeks - just think had you not gone to J.C. you might have either just stayed at your same weight or gained even!
I have an excellent salad recipe that can be whipped up ahead of time & munched on anytime during the day b/c the ingredients are FREE! See if this helps cure your boredom or at least spawn your thinking towards other FREE salads that you might enjoy...
- chop up peeled cucumbers
- chop tomatoes
- chop red onions (or chives or shallots)
- chop celery
- add black pepper, garlic powder, balsamic vinegar, and 1 T. grated parm cheese
yum yum yum! Good Luck!

Moomba,
It looks like your really close to your half way...... don't give up! I know it's tempting to want to do your own thing, but if you can just stick with it, you're going to see a loss. Try some of the suggestions that some of the people have posted to vary the foods. I know when you've been on a while, it seems tedius, but it sounds like you're stuck, and doing your own thing at this point isn't going to help you get there any sooner. You can do this!!! At half way, you'll have 2 whole days you can do your own foods. C'mon girlfriend, bite the bullet, you're almost there!!!!

I have to agree with oldshirley on this - she's right about what happens when you start subbing foods for the jc. It will prolong your weight loss, and you're going to end up spending more money in the long run, plus, it's going to be discouraging, because you're not getting the results! You can do this. Get creative with the lunches, but don't start playing with substituting jc for lean cuisines... they may be the same calories, but the content, the exchanges and the portion size aren't the same. Exchanges are really important on the plan, and our menu's have a delicate balance. If we start playing with that, it's going to really slow things down, and then you're just throwing your money away. Think positive! Take it one day at a time, and know that every time you eat that item on the menu, even if it's boring, you're losing weight! You're getting healthier! Before you know it you'll be half way, planning 2 days on your own. You can do this!!!

I am a 3rd timer here and today is day 2 so I know what you are talking about. If you really talk to your consultant she could tell you how to substitute meals with Non Jenny food. Like I love salads with feta cheese and hard boiled eggs for lunch. Its perfectly acceptable. Also they could give you ideas for breakfast. Just remember if you dont break it up you will stray so learn to stray in a good way then go back to JC foods.

Stacy~ you don't have to buy anything you don't want to! Of course they may put pressure on you to buy everything for the week because they want your money, but you are not required to. Sometimes we go to a dinner party, sometimes we go out to eat for a special event. We have lives and cannot be expected to buy and eat JC for 21 meals a week if it does not fit with our schedule or in this case the desire to spice it up a bit.

On the turkey burger, I put a healthy slice of onion, tomatoe and lettuce. I also bought some FF mayo and use a tbs of that. Yum!
