Does anyone have any suggestions of additions to the Jenny foods? I like to get ideas so that I can make them more interesting or tasteful??? I like them but sometimes others can come up with some good ideas and we can all share them??? Thanks..Debbie

Pico de Gallo
Fat Free Salsa
Fat Free sour cream (a limited free food)
Dill pickles. Heck, sometimes I dip baby dills in Splenda haha
Sometimes I'll pour a pasta entree over fresh spinach leaves.
Dress up the burgers with tomatoes, onion, lettuce, mustard, ketchup, dill pickle slices...
Mushrooms sauteed in Pam, a bit of soy sauce and freshly minced garlic
Soak an entire Portabello mushroom in soy sauce all day, sprinkle with garlic powder, then grill. OH YUM...
Try microwaving an apple with Splenda and cinnamon. Then do a pear.
I eat my granola with 8 oz of skim milk, some Splenda and cinnamon, and I microwave it for a minute - it's nice warm
I eat fat free sugar free vanilla yogurt frozen after dinner sometimes. Try THAT on top of a baked apple!

I'm only on week 2 and interested in suggestions also....the only things I've come up with is adding artichoke hearts to the pesto pizza, I also used some fresh hot sauce/salsa with my fish sticks (that my sound strange but I'm from southern california and fish taco's are popular so it's reminds of a fish taco with out the tortilla.

Thank-you so much for the ideas. I'm going to try them & experiment myself. I also stretch the entrees with lots of free veggies and I feel like I'm really eating alot. Good luck to everybody....(I'm on week 2 also, but returning after a long time away...)

This one came by trail and error.
Trail o I like V8.
Error: no!
So what to do with a can of V8, put it 1/2 cup into my Soup of the day. Yum!

My two favorite adds are:
1. Sauteeing with Pam spinach, mushrooms and pressed garlic together than adding the Chicken Fettucini on top.
2. Cut the double chocolate cake into squares, top with a serving of berries and top with a dollop of Cool Whip Lite! Yum!
Enjoy!

Another recent discovery is using plain non-fat yogurt instead of sour cream (it actually tastes fairly similar with less calories) and adding some tapatio hot sauce...mixing it and it makes a great dip for the fish sticks, potato's and even veggies for when you want something with some flavor without the guilt

Add some tomato sauce to the chicken fettucini for a creamy tomato sauce.
Grill artichokes - cut in half and soak them in hot water (i add the JC lemon dill marinade to the pot) for about 20 minutes. then grill them for about 10 minutes, turning a couple of times. You can add more marinade to them before grilling them if you want. if you have a fat to spare, mix a little light mayo with the lemon dill marinade for dipping.

Hi! This is my first ever post to the JCMB and I made some modifications to the Swedish Meatballs. I sauteed some mushrooms with some Pam and garlic. When the veggies were on their way to being cooked, I added the non-heated package of the food and cooked it all together. I have not tried it without this modification but from what I have read on the boards, I am glad that I did!

I love all the pizzas so when I'm getting a little burned out on the salads I make the pizza and put the salad right on top with the dressing. Yummy!

I"m very interested in this thread...I'll also be testing ways to add in protein and cut carbs, like substituting cheese for milk.
Here's what I've done so far:
Sunshine Sandwich: Add 1 T FF Mayo, 3 slices of plum tomato, and lots of black pepper. For extra protein with no carbs, I subbed a FF cheese slice (Kraft FF Extra Sharp Cheddar) for half of the milk (and saved the other half for cheese in my chili). Delicious!
Chili Con Carne: Add sweated (cooked in a little liquid until softened) celery (or green or red peppers, if you prefer) slices, 1 chopped plum tomato, hot sauce, 1 slice FF single cheese (again, for more protein), top with 1 sliced green onion, parsley flakes and 1 T FF sour cream. To die for!
(Can't take credit for the next 2 really, just adding them to my personal list!)
Chicken Fettucine: Serve on a bed of hot cooked spinach that has been sprinkled with salt, pepper and garlic powder and half the cheese allowance as parmesan cheese. Pour the Fettucine over and sprinkle with remaining cheese and parsley. Wonderful!
Double Chocolate Cake:
Cut strawberries into chunks sprinkle lightly with Splenda and microwave about 30 seconds until and warm and soft. Microwave thawed cake for about 8 seconds until warm and soft. Cut in half, pour strawberries over and enjoy!

Silver Dollar Pancakes with Veggie Sausage:
First I ate some leftover green beans sprayed with ICBINB-Spray along with the sausage patty. Then, I put 2 T of SF syrup on the thawed pancakes, then warm them with a cup of strawberry chunks lightly sprinkled with Splenda about 30 seconds in microwave. This was really great.
Chicken Strips with Rice Medley:
I stirred in cooked spinach and small tomato cut in wedges. Added 2 T parmesan cheese. It was pretty good, it definitely needed salt.
As a snack I had "Herbed Nuts":
My center doesn't carry any of the nut snacks so I make my own. It saves me money anyway. Place 1/2 oz of nuts in a pan and spray with ICBINB spray. Add, to taste, crushed dried rosemary, dried thyme, salt and garlic powder. Toast over med heat for about 5 minutes, stirring or shaking often. Remove to paper to cool completely. This is one serving...I generally make about 4 servings and keep in a container in the fridge.
Salisbury Steak:
Saute onion and mushrooms in ICBINB spray until tender. Place on plate and top with the steak and gravy. I also served it with "faux-tatoes:" cook a heaping cup of cauliflower florets until tender. Puree in small food processor with 3 T FF sour cream, salt and pepper and serve with the meal, with the gravy. Very yummy!!
For a snack I microwaved one cup of apple chunks tossed in splenda and cinnamon for about 3 minutes, drain off water, and then topped it with a SF/FF vanilla yogurt. This was really wonderful!

Breakfast stuffed sandwich:
Is good with a side of sliced tomato topped with 1T FF mayo and salt and pepper.
Pesto Pizza:
Top with some thinly sliced onion before baking. About 2 minutes before done, sprinkle with 2 T parmesan cheese and parsley flakes and more chopped seeded tomato. Let melt. I really enjoyed this.
Cesar dressing:
Is much better with the addition of 2 T parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper.
*Of course, you have to 'save' your milk from the morning snack to do the pizza/salad this way--my consultant told me it was fine to substitute the parm for a milk. My breakfast and lunch are only about 3 hours apart, so I usually save the snack and add it to lunch.

Great idea, sounds yummy. I'm going to try it. But this should be the exchange -
2 T Parmesan cheese = 1 Lean Meat

I just rejoined JC after taking a year off and regaining half the lost weight back.
I left JC because I couldn't stand the food anymore after eating it for 1.5 years. Don't get me wrong, I think JC food is great, but it's the limited choices that got to me. I wish JC would have a larger variety of foods. I know this gets into refrigeration problems and expiration dates but JC food isn't cheap, give us the variety.
And BTW I LOVE the pesto pizza and thai lemongrass chicken.

Great suggestions mama, but make sure you're counting cheese as a meat, not a milk. It's actually considered a lean meat (or higher fat meat if you use regular cheese.)

Wow, these are great suggestions. The problem with me is that I don't like mushrooms, squash or cheese, and a lot of these add to's seem to include those elements. I don't like cauliflower either, BUT, I am going to try out that faux-tatoes recipe and see if they really do taste like mashed taters when prepared that way. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

i change a few things as well, cause the food does get boring.
chkn fajitas: instead of the seasoning packet & tortillas i make the chkn & vegie mix like the instructions & i put it on top of a cup of cooked white rice & add terriyaki sauce & sometimes cooked broccoli its delicious & so much more filling then the fajitas.
jenny's personal pizza: i take off the tomatoes cause i don't like them, but anyways i crumble 2 cooked slices of the microwaveable bacon & add the crushed red peppers, & sometimes i add chppd onions & bell peppers as well, but the only time i add the bacon is when i have cereal for brkfst that way i save the meat for my lunch.
chkn sandwich: i always toast the bun & i never use the sauce that comes w/it i always add mayo to the bun & i warm up the chkn w/hot sauce & black pepper & make it a spicy chkn sndwch.
chkn strip medley: i add terriyaki sauce & it taste much better.
sunshine sdwc: i always toast the muffin & put mayo on it instead of that sauce that it comes with, & i take that piece of meat off & throw it away & put 2 slices of cooked microwaveable bacon instead.

Hey Temptingly,
Where does it say to have micro bacon on the program. It's nice to glam up the foods but can we really have such a thing as bacon that is not sanctioned by Jenny?
Need to stay close to program or the changes made with just slow down the progress. I for one stay very straight and I would love to have bacon LEGALLY. Tell me....is it true?

I've got some other suggestions:
First, I've gotten to really like good brown mustards. They are freebies, and you can add some to extend your salad dressing (makes your salad have some spice) and I really like it on the Chicken Sandwich instead of that yellow packet of sauce.
I also started chopping up dill pickles into my daily salads. That really adds flavor.
Instead of salad dressing, I often use rice vinegar (Nakano Brand Rice Vinegar with Basil and Oregano is yummy) and that frees up one fat. I use that fat by putting a tablespoon of raw sunflower seeds on the salad.
I often substitute an ounce of grated soy cheese for my second yogurt. You can put the soy cheese on your salad, or on a pizza, or on lots of JC meals. Eating some soy every day is helping to calm my crazy hormones, and it has no cholesterol.
Hope this inspires you. Your ideas have all inspired me. Thanks.

hey wind
yes you can have bacon:
brkfst incl: 1 meat, 2 starches, & 1 fat
lunch incl: 2 meats, & 2 starches
dinner incl: 4 meats, 2 starches & 1 fat
so if i have cereal 4 brkfst i haven't had my meat & if i have my pizza 4 lunch i haven't had my meat either so i have 2 pieces of bacon 4 lunch. all you have to do is read labels & you can pretty much figure out how to exchange things. 3 pieces of the bacon i buy is like 70 cal 10 from fat not too bad & i only use 2 pieces. thanks for your concern

Hi all,
I think regular bacon is considered a fat on the JC plan, but I buy a lean turkey bacon that is low fat. 2 slices of the JennyO lean turkey bacon or one slice of the Louis Rich turkey bacon equals one meat. I believe that any meat with less than 3 grams of fat in it is considered lean.
I do breakfasts on my own, and often make a BLT using light mayo and the turkey bacon. It's delicious and very filling.
I also doctor up my Jenny foods by adding a meat, lowfat cheese or milk that I borrow from another meal or snack. I also add sauteed spinach and/or mushrooms to just about everything.
The chili con carne and turkey chili are great over salad, and if you sprinkle on your cheese curls from your snack, it's almost like a taco salad.
Ciao.

Oh, forgot to add that the JC dietician has said that you may substitute a lean meat for a milk serving, so the parmesan cheese can sub for a milk. You just need to make sure you're getting enough calcium when you do this.
