You know, folks, I had heard about these Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches, but I'd never seen them, and had found other treats, so I didn't give it too much thought. But then I found them in the grocery yesterday....I got the Strawberry Shortcake kind - man! They're SO GOOD! Forget this fat free soy ice cream stuff I've been doing! (Ok, I like soy ice cream just fine, but these are something else!)
Very dangerous to have in the house if you have habitual eating issues, but so GOOD! What took me so long!?!?!?! Now the problem is when do I eat it...do I have it in the afternoon, when it's hot? Do I wait until the end of the day? So many choices....
Also, on the summer frozen treat tip, I got some Dole (I think) frozen-no-sugar-added fruit bars, and at about 35 cals, it can be on of the limited freebies. My mom used to make popsicles with juice, so you could subsitute a fruit for a homemade juicecicle. Or, she also used to make fudgecicles with chocolate pudding - if you made them fat free, you could plan that into a day.
But man, that Skinny Cow!

Munki,
You should go to the skinny cow website and get on their e-mailing list for their newsletter. They send an email out with a link and I put my address in everytime they have an open period and they send me 3 or 4 50 cents off coupons. Matter of fact they just sent a July newletter with such a link. I'll try to post it here.Free Skinny Cow Coupons

Hmmmm.......I love Skinny Cow, but you can get away with stuff like Big Sticks and popsicles that are 50 calories, and they don't have any sweetener in them other than sugar. It's kinda nice to have something like that from time to time too, as long as it fits ino the plan.
P.S. I had the cookies and cream bars, and I don't really like them but Ben loves them! Go figure ~

Last week I was talking to my counselor about wanting ice cream when the weather is hot. She suggested that I make pudding pops from ff sf jello and skim milk. She said i could have 8 oz, and count it as my milk serving. Great

I love the Skinny Cow ice-cream sandwiches too. Has anyone tried the Weight Watchers Giant Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Bars? They're only 140 calories, 5g fat, and 25g of carbs. Very close in calories and carbs to the Jenny Craig Chocolate Chip Snack Bar which has 140 calories and 23g of carbs. It’s an ice-cream bar with crushed Oreo-type cookies on the outside. It’s big, wonderful, and makes you feel like you're really cheating.

14kitty: your counsellor unfortunatly gave you wrong information SS/FF pudding is a starch. The subject has come up many times in the ask the dietician forum and in every case they say it's starch. I made that mistake. used the pudding for my milk and gained three pounds that week
as for the skinny cow I love them but I can't keep them in my freezer. Too good to resist eating the whole package.

That’s what I have to be careful with when I have the Weight Watchers Giant Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Bars in my freezer. I ate one the other night and immediately wanted another one ... they’re that good. I resisted though. I was strong!

I'm waiting to hear too...what do these frozen treats count as?? Can you have a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich or other product as a replacement for a JC Snack? That would be a nice change of pace!
Lydia
I count them as 1 3/4 starch or a starch and a fat, depending on what my day looks like!
The Deej
anything like this would fall under the starch & fats, depending on the fat levels.
Frozen dairy deserts often don't have enough protiens, vitamins and minerals to equal a dairy portion
ErinInAtlanta
Since I was told the JC Snacks are pretty much equivalent to a starch and a fat, it sounds like this should as a snack replacement! Now I just have to hope my local supermarkets carry it!!
Thanks to all for your help!

Erin go to RALPH'S. They have so many flavors. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!
The Deej
One skinny cow ice cream sandwich is two starches. the fat is pretty negligible if I recall.
