I had to laugh today at lunch! I tried the broccoli cheese baked potato for the first time. On the package is a very appetizing potato with identifyable pieces of broccoli and identifiable shredded cheese. When I opened the package, imagine my surprise when I pulled out a potato with a big green blob on it! Don't get me wrong, it tasted GREAT! But the picture/food mismatch was just too funny to not post about!

I agree. You'll find that most of the pictures look alot better than the actual entree. Luckily, most dishes taste alot better than they look.

I've seen a few programs where they show how "food stylists" work. It's a very interesting process.
On one show, Chef at Large on FoodTV Canada they showed the stylist going through dozens of hamburger buns just trying to find about 10 "perfect" buns.

It's wierd looking but it's one of my faves. I could eat that for lunch EVERY day! Yesterday I steamed some extra broccoli and stirred it in, so my entree did look a lot more like the picture! A nice blob of lowfat sour cream helped too!

I don't eat my stuffed potato in public. I've noticed others looking at it & me strangely and with disgust at the green glob. Sorta takes the enjoyment out of lunch time.

Jill,
I am there with you. People always ask me because I have to carry it to the kitchen to microwave it and I walk carrying it -like I just did today- on a paper plate to my desk. People often ask me what it is and if I made it. Not so much for the looks but it sure does taste pretty good and is filling too.
One thing I would like to try someday is chop it up in small pieces and tass it with my salad and the JC dressing ranch or something. My husband and I used to have warm baked potato and chicken on our salads. Baked potato works sort of like croutons and it also tasted great and was very filling. Hmm I got to try it next week
Be well

I try to keep an open mind with most of the foods since I am knew to the program and only took out the things that I really knew i would not like (i.e. turkey with gravy because i just don't like turkey). So I kept this on my menu even though I DO NOT LIKE BROCCOLI, thinking that i could drown the broccoli in the cheese or just "pick off" some of the broccoli. So imagine my surprise when i saw this huge green blob of broccoli puree. But luckily for me, i was at work with no other option for lunch but to try to choke it down or starve (well not entirely true i had my salad). I figured if it was bad enough i would just eat the potato. But it was really not bad, even pretty good i would say and I DONT LIKE BROCCOLI!!!!!!!!!!! You really couldn't taste it quite as strongly as with big chunks and it tasted almost buttery. It was very good. I would eat it again, believe it or not...

I have had many comments when I eat the potato at work. They think it's guacamole or baby food!

I LOVE the potato, and everyone always asks me what it is when I bring it to the work, but it's always because it smells good, not because of how it looks.
People always comment that it smells like peanut butter when it's in the microwave. I have yet to understand THAT.

This is so true! I was cracking up when I pulled that potato out of the box. I showed it to my husband and he told me he was sure it was going to be delicious. (He's working really hard to be my cheerleader) He was right. I put my extra cheese on it and really enjoyed it. I think I'll try it with the sour cream next time.

I was shocked and embarassed when I took the potato out of the box. Everybody in our lunch room was having pizza and I had the green blob. YUCK! It didn't taste any better than it looked.

LOL! ME TOO! OMG, this is a very visually unattractive dish... but I love it. Go figure.

When you pull it out of the microwave, mash it up. That way anyone you pass will think you have some potato dish. I didn't think I liked broccoli, but I like this dish. It looks weird but I like to have it at least once a week! Here's one for the green blob
