Hi all,
I'm a potential new member...I've all but decided to sign up and am looking for folks in town (or hey, even in state) who are also doing the Jenny Craig thing. If any of you are out there, drop a line!

I saw that no one had replied to your post. I start on the JC program on Monday - I had done it before, 16 years ago after my first daughter was born. It worked great & am hoping for the same this time. I'd happily be your buddy if you're still looking.
noodles 02
Hillary - thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to also start on Monday. Do you also live in Abq? Can I ask about how much weight you would like to lose? I'm looking to lose 20 lbs.
Hillary702
Hi Noodles,
I actually live in Las Vegas, NV & love NM. I'm pushing my eldest to go to college in Santa Fe. I'd like to lose 20 - 25 lbs. Last time I did JC was 16 years ago, after my first daughter was born. I'm 42, 5'5", the mother of 3. I have an appt. to meet at the JC center tomorrow at 10AM. Good luck to you - let me know it it goes tomorrow & I'll do the same.
noodles 02
Hi again... still looking for folks in Albuquerque... I officially started last Tuesday and have my first weigh in tomorrow. Let me know if you're out there! I'm looking for a potential work out buddy as well
silly tree
hey noodles, i'm starting jenny in about a week, christmas and all i had to wait to go cuz of money, you know how it goes?! I've actually done Jenny Craig before. It works, Best of Luck to you. I actually have a lot of weight to lose, much more than you. drop me a line.
noodles 02
hi silly tree! I was starting to think there was no one else in Albie on JC... although I know that's not true since I see people all the time at center. Which one will you be going to? Or will you be doing direct? I go to Eastside (at Lomas and Eubank).
It's cool that you've got more lbs to lose than me... to each their own I say and good luck to you also. Do you go to a gym? I'm joining Defined starting after the new year.
Cheers!
noodles 02
*bump* ...just in case any of you Abq people are out there...
debbinbernalillo
Hi Noodles, I live in Bernalillo. I go to the center on Montgomery. Are you still looking for a buddy?
noodles 02
Debbie - So sorry for taking this long to reply. I saw your posting while I was out of town on work travel and completely forgot about it when I returned. I am still looking for local buddies, definitely! I haven't found anyone here yet on JC.
I go to the center on Lomas, but I don't suppose it much matters. How long have you been doing JC? How much are you trying to lose? How are things going?
Take care!
debbinbernalillo
Hi Noodles, I started last March. Almost a year now. I can't believe it. I've lost 46 lbs. and I still have 25 more to go. It seems slow, but I'm so much happier now and I feel so much better, it's amazing. I think it's a great program. This isn't my first try at it, but for some reason I feel like this is the one that's going to take. My attitude is really different this time, I don't feel deprived or sorry for myself like I did last time. How are you doing? When is your weigh in? Mine is Thurs. at 11am. What kind of exercise are you doing?
noodles 02
debb - holy cow that is awesome! you have been losing on ave a lb a week for a whole year... amazing! glad to hear it's been going so well for you - as as far as whether it's "slow" - you could have not started the program at all and where would you be? the same place you were a year ago (or worse!)
good for you for making the change and improving your health and well-being and feeling better about yourself in general. that is a very inspiring story. this is my first time doing jc and i weigh in on Mondays (yup, tomorrow) after work. so we will see tomorrow how this past week went. i've only been on the program for a few months, but i already feel way better about myself and my body than i did when i began.
does your center have the salmon everyone's talking about yet? i'm going to ask again tomorrow, but lomas didn't have it as of last week... always seems like we're the last to get things here :P
debbinbernalillo
I don't know about the salmon. I haven't heard anything about it. I was really glad when the meatball sandwich showed up. It is a nice change.
Thanks for the encouraging words. You are right, I'm glad I'm as far along as I am. And not where I would be if I hadn't started. It sounds like you are doing good also. Good luck tomorrow at your weigh in. Let me know how you do. I'm having a hard time getting into exercise this week. I don't know what that's about. Maybe the weather. Warm weather always makes me want to go outside and do something. There's a walking path about 10 min. from my house, it's actually in Rio Rancho but the far north end of RR. When the weather is nice I like to take my dog and jog. I'm a slow jogger but I enjoy it. I also have a gazell for when the weather isn't great. I'm going to try really hard to do something tomorrow.
Again, good luck tomorrow and keep up the good work.
Love, Debbie

Hope you got your exercise in yesterday - I did not... I have all these blisters from snowshoeing over the weekend (we went up to the Jemez)! However, I did post a 2lb loss yesterday at WI - which is really high for me (I'm also a "slow loser" in your terms). Really happy about this!
debbinbernalillo
WOW!! 2 lbs in one week! That's amazing! Good for you. Snowshoeing must really be a calorie burner. Keep doing that. No I didn't exercise yesterday or today. Yesterday I took my Mom to Walmart and we walked around for a while but that was it. Today's not over I still might be able to do something. Congradulations and keep up the good work.

Hi gang...

I just joined!!! YEAHHHHHH!!! The slogan for this year is....Everything is Great in 2008!!! and a good start to the year is making a life-long committment to change my eating habits and getting back into the shape I know I am supposed to be.

Your encouragement and support is well needed. Please feel free to drop me a line. I'm so glad that there are others here from Albq. & NM. All i kept seeing were Coloradoians and Arazonians....lol. Glad to know that there are others who can relate to the chile-thing we have out here.....Phew!

Stay strong and be positive!!

Love,

Good Morning Jomama,
That is my daughters nick name.
I live in Rio Rancho, and work in Albuquerque.
I go to the centre on Lomas/Eubank in the Target center. My JCC is Lurline, and I love everyone there.
Yes...people dont always relate to our Red & Green (my favorite) thing.

When I hit half way and started doing 2 days a week on my own...
Huevos Ranchero with Green became my once a month treat.

Now that I on on maintenance I probably have it twice a month.

I add green chile to lots of the JC foods, and to my sauteed veggies.

In the year and a half I have been on JC I have only met 2 other people from NM, so this is a treat.
Welcome.

Hi MaryJo...grat to hear from ya!!!

I am starting at the Lomas/Eubank location too. I meet my counselor on Saturday...so I'm VERY new to all of this.

Congratulations on your success! So great to hear how you've been able to incorporate locale fare with your changing habits. So glad I get to look forward to it.

Thanks for the great big welcome! I'm so excited!!

Hi MaryJo and jomama,
I live in Alamogordo and since the closest center to me is in El Paso, I've decided to do Jenny Direct where they ship the food to your door and your counselor calls you once a week. I'm in my 3rd week now and I've lost 9 lbs so far! 5 lbs the first week, only 1 lb in week two, and so far 2 lbs this week. I'm happy with 1-2 lbs a week, after all, that's how I gained it, so it makes sense that I should lose it that way too, even though it will take a little longer. I want to lose a total of 50 lbs, but I'm not sure I can afford to stay on Jenny Craig that long. I'm going to stay on for 2 months for sure, but after that I'll just have to look at my budget and I may have to try going it alone! In the meantime, it's nice to see some other NM people on here. I'm a transplant from Minnesota, but it didn't take me long to become a green chili girl!

Great to meet you too Jujube14.
I was born in WI just 2o miles east of St. Paul, so we are neighbors on both sides.
You are doing great on Jenny Direct.
I have met many people over the year and a half I have been with JC that do Jenny Direct, and it is a great option.
After two months you should have a handle on portion control, and keeping your metabolism up, and who knowss you may be close to half way where you start doing two days a week with food on your own.
My goal was 50# and I made half way in 3 1/2 months., and I made goal in a total of 8 months and have maintained it now for 46 weeks.

Best of luck, keep in touch.

Hi Jo,
You know 'Jo Mama" is what I call my one daughter, her name is Joanna.

Do you know who your appt is with at the lomas centre?

My consultant is Lurline, but everyone at the centre is wonderful so you will be in good hands so to speak.

My b4 and after pix is on the wall in at least two of the offices on the right as you go down the hall.
So ask them to see Mary Jo's pix.
You will enjoy.
I am here for you if you need anything.

Wow! 46 weeks, that's getting close to a year now! That's fantastic! So far I've liked most of the meals. I paid for the first month in advance, so the food was just weeks 1 and 2 repeating itself. My consultant will call tonight and I'll put in my first order of my own choice, so I'm looking forward to that. Last week she told me that one of her clients had just ordered 14 breakfast scrambles because that's all she liked to eat for breakfast! I'm actually enjoying the variety, so I'm going to continue to mix it up some. Plus, I believe that having a lot of variety really makes it easier to stick to it. Eating the same old thing all the time is what got me into trouble to begin with!

Hi Jujube14...

Welcome to JC and to NM!! I am almost done with my very first week on JC. Saturday's weigh-in will let me know how it's working for me. I too had concerns about how long I was going to be able to afford beingon JC...I'm hoping it will give me a nice kick in the right direction to learning to live with portion control (my BIGGEST downfall).

Congratulations on the 9lbs so far!! It's a one day, one step at a time for us!!!

I'm already starting to plan my strategies for when I go back to real world eating. Portion control is my problem too. Jenny Craig is teaching me that I really can eat everything I like from pizza to chocolate cake - I just need to be sensible about it. I've also been reading "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano and one of the things she mentions is that the most intense pleasure you receive from food is usually in the first few bites. So, eat slower, savor longer and learn to push your plate away. It's hard to learn, but the alternative is a lifetime of being overweight, uncomfortable, and unhappy. Not to mention the related health problems. I'm really motivated to change my ways this time, not just to lose the weight. Good luck with your weigh-in today!

Hi fellow New Mexicans!!

I also live in Alamogordo and started JC Direct last Friday!! I really thought I might be the only one in town on the program! I chose the direct program for the same reason...I was not driving to El Paso or Abq to purchase my food or weigh in. So far so good...I'm liking the food, but I am really hungry. I had my first call with my consultant this morning...not to thrilled with her, but I am hoping it gets better. She basically read (or at least sounded like she was reading) from her Jenny script book. When she was finished reading, she asked if I had any questions...when I did I could almost hear the panic in her voice. Oh well...

Maybe we should start a New Mexico thread??

Have a great week!

even though there isn't a new post for some time.... wanted to connect with anyone who may still be active in the area...I live in Rio Rancho...and am new to New Mexico...would love to make some friends with simular challanges...

hi Michelle,
I am still here....
I am on maintenance for nearly 2 years now and just started going back to the centre. Have not been since Xmas.
I lost 50# in 36 weeks, and 34 inches.
It is a great program.
I live in Enchanted Hills (Rio Rancho).
I go to the Eubank/Lomas center in ABQ near my office.
Do you ever go into the chat room on here?
It really helps to keep you supported!
All the best MJ.
I go to the center tomorrow at 10:50, I have gained 13.4# due to a medication I had to take last year, so I am back on to get rid of those #'s/

I am new to this Jenny thing - one week tomorrow and so far it's okay. I need to do some exercise though and I am not motivated- anyone out there have words of wisdom/motivation?

I'm on Week 6 and also live in the Albuquerque area. What are your current exercise options? I really rely on my lunch hours at work and have adjusted how I treat lunch invites, etc. Walking/jogging has had a very nice impact on my appetite--works as a suppressant. I definitely struggle with what is next to eat if I don't talk time for a brisk walk during lunch or a couple rounds on the stairs here at work during break.

Welcome and good luck. I'm just starting week 4. So far so good. Remember that it's not a sprint but about a whole change. It won't turn around in a day but you're seeing that it can be different.
