Hi aussiebelle!
Congrats on your great loss! keep it going girl. I am from Perth, and have been back on the JC program for 3 weeks now. So far have lost 3kg, which is fine by me. I was very reluctant to return again, I have done this 5 times now, and although have lost a lot of weight, I never seem to go all the way through. But I figured that the more times I try, the closer I will get to success. I have also made my goal the maintenance phase, rather than a weight goal. So what are you finding hard? working? fun? etc. |

Where abouts in Perth are you from?I'm in Melbourne and it was bl...y cold today, although we still haven't had any rain!We will probably have water restrictions again this summer so there goes our lawns again!!! Did you catch any of the soccer this morning?Disappointing result but the boys did such a great job getting where they did. Good luck on the program-let me know how you are going!!! |

Hi, Aussies. Aussiebelle, I posted a reply re: your 4th of July question under general threads.
Sorry your lads were eliminated from the world cup...as were ours in a disappointing showing. My son and husband are (English) footbal nuts and have been watching many of the matches. My mother's family was originally from Ukraine, so I was rooting for them, but they were eliminated 3 nil in their last game. Oh, well. Now I think I'm rooting for Britain. Don't know how that plays down under... Congrats on your losses. I've lost 8.1 kilos (I did the conversion) in 10 weeks and am very happy with JC program. Would love to know how it is different there. Do you have an independence day???? What are your National holidays??? My best friends mother was from Melbourne..she was a WWII bride and came over on a bride ship after the war. My friend still has family in Melbourne and goes to visit periodically. I'd love to tag along some time! Ellie |

Hi Ellie,OMG the whole of Melbourne went nuts over the soccer results!!!!!We are known as the sports capital of Australia and most Melburians would support anyone wearing green and gold-I love it!!!!!Soccer is becomming more popular now but I doubt it will ever get to the level of cricket and footie-Aussie rules that is!I think I'll go for England too.
We don't have Independence Day here-we are still part of the British Commonwealth but we do celebrate Australia Day-landing of the first fleet,Anzac Day-in memory of the soldiers who have served in war, starting with Gallipoli right through to now,Queen's Birthday and here in Melbourne we also have a holiday for the Melb Cup-huge horserace!!!!! What area are your friends rellies from?I hope you do get to come visit-just make sure you allow time to see as much as you can.It is such a vast country with so much to see |

England lost...boo hoo. Oh well, now I don't know for whom to root.
I'll ask my friend where her folks are from. I feel stupid that I did not know you were independent from Britain. Long live the Queen! Is Aussie rules football a form of what we call rugby (no helmets or pads)? I am a huge American football fan and am just coming to appreciate soccer, though my son played for years. Hope all is going well with your JC program. It's fun to talk to someone on the other side of the world. Is it cold there now? Does any of Australia get snow? My geography is pitiful, I should be ashamed. And I am.... Ellie |

Hi Ellie,It's just starting to turn cold but we still haven't had any rain We need it so badly or else they will bring in water restrictions again come Summer!Believe it or not it does snow here but mainly in the high country(think of Man from Snowy River)Snow season is not all that long though and I think they top up the ski runs.
Now about Aussie Rules the first I must explain is that I am from Melbourne,Victoria and that "footie" is a passion here-almost a religion...lol...We have a huge rivalry with those from NSW,thats usually in anything, not just sport; So if you are talking footie with someone from New South(Sydney)they would most probably mean Rugby and those from Melbourne would definately, definately mean Aussie rules!!!!!!!!Tall, hunky guys/no padding/nice muscles...get my drift..lol.. |

Gotcha...fun to watch, no doubt! Some of our football players are hunks too...but some run to the rather large (250 lbs)--so not as attractive!
Hope you are doing well on program. I still have to ask my friend where her family are from... Ellie |

Hi Ellie,I guess soccer is pretty much over for us although there is a huge Italian population here. There is quite a famous street called Lygon St and it is choc a block with wonderful Italian restaraunts. They will party, party, party and 100's of people will gather to watch the final early Monday(?)morning-I think they are all mad..lol..
Now we will be watching Wimbledon-go Leyton!!!It's on so late here I'm usually in bed but I will stay up and watch if he makes the final Aussie Aussie Aussie-I did tell you we are sports nuts Hope everyone is well and staying strong. It does get hard sometimes to stay motivated but thanks to Trix's wonderful fitness challenges I have finally returned to the gym.I am along way from where I was 18 months ago but at least I am feeling good about myself again |

Good for you for getting back to the gym. I have found exercise to be essential to my weight loss...and I was a real couch potatoe. Now I'm up to exercising (aerobic) an hour at a time, 5 days a week or more. I really notice a difference in my weight loss if I drop off on the exercise.
I'm not a big tennis fan, but my hubby and son watched the World Cup finals....Sunday afternoon here...must be Mon.a.m. there! The Aussie Italians must be getting rowdy right about now, with their win on goal kicks. We have rain and thunder right now, but summer temps. It's nice and cozy in our cottage on the lake (Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes...the size of a fresh water sea). Have a great day! Ellie |

Hi Ellie,Sorry I haven't posted for awhile-lots happening at the moment! It sounds like you live in a beautiful area.My family loves anything to do with water,
whether it's the beach,river,lake,pond,puddle-it doesn't matter!!! My hubbie and daughters are typical Aussie surfie types-even their blonde hair.....I on the other hand take after my Mum's side-dark hair, fair skin so I have to be really careful not to burn when I'm in the sun. At the moment I would love to be sitting by the Lake;perhaps reading a good book;drinking a cuppa(maybe a chardie..lol..)Oh well, dream on |

Hi all, have just found this site and am looking for support. This is the 3rd time I have JC'd. I know it works and I know I can do it. I just need to be able to keep it up. My most successful attempt was 10 years ago, I did so well and felt so good about myself.
Anyway so far this time I have lostover 6 kg. Am taking it slowly, dont seem able to to stick to programme 100%. However the last week I have had the flu and not felt like eating so that has REALLY helped..... Looking forward to chatting to you. Cyd |

Hi Aussiegirl and welcom Cydd.
Well it is very hot by Lake Michigan this week with temps in the mid 90's (sorry, I don't know celsius!) -- we don't have air conditioning b/c hot weather is a rarity up here...but just got a quote. We are miserable several weeks a year. It's hard when one can't sleep well. Cydd, congrats on your success so far. Jenny is great, as you know from your previous experience. It gives me confidence to know that when I slip, I just go back to my menu and then don't have to worry...it just works. Aussiegirl, what is new with you? It is Friday, 5:30 pm here...probably tomorrow morning very early where you are. Look forward to a reply. Ellie |

Good Morning(saturday)Ellie and welcome Cyddd,I hope all is well and you are staying strong!!!
Ellie I know how it feels not having any cooling. We were renting a place last year while we were building, that didn't have it and we all nearly died...I had to go out and buy some pedestal fans just to get some relief! There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep because of the heat-and it can climb into the high 40s(over 100oF).....but at the moment we are in the middle of winter and it finally rained last night..yeah Well done Cyd on losing 6kgs!how good does that make you feel-even with the flu-I find I tend to eat more when I'm sick..crazy heh? I'm glad you found this board,I have made a lot of mates with so many differing backgrounds but we all have the same goal-that is to lose weight and get fit and healthy.I noticed in your profile you're from Wanganui. That sounds Kiwi....There are a few streets named after NZ towns where I live (Melbourne).Go to some of the other threads as well. They are really good to join into and chat with others or to read some really inspirational stories!Oh yeah...there are lots of laughs too My weight lose is abit slow at the moment-lots happening, but I am really focusing on my fitness levels.Doing lots of cardio and gym work. The trouble is that I tend to give myself little rewards for working so hard ....gotta stop doing that....Oh well!!!I've lost 11kilos with about 5 to go-maybe 7 but I'II see how i feel. Ellie,I hope you are still enjoying your holiday.Get that cooling on,relax and have a chardie or two for me Cyd,good luck and keep in touch Bye for now.Belinda |
