When there's a crisis in your life - what do you do?
I tend to stop eating completely (I used to smoke but gave up thank goodness). I also tend to want to get stuck in and clean house - and go for a walk to just try and make sense of everything. By saying "crisis", I just mean any kind of upset - whether its a falling out with a family member, whether its losing a friend to cancer. I would like to hear how people cope with it all sometimes. Its bad enough being overweight - then on top of it all to have some horrible disaster happen in your life. I would love to find an easy way to put it all into perspective. Yes, I have had several crises in my lifetime (I'm 45) and always seem to surface for air each time. Forgive me but I'm having one of my "moments" and just need some feedback! |

Whenever there is a crisis in my life, I take time to spend with myself. This involves writing in my journal to release my inner frustrations, keeping my walkman on with soft gentle music, walks along the beach and lots of quiet meditation.
When there is a crisis, it is easy to lose your center, and especially find no time for yourself. When I take the time to recenter myself, I am always back on top. My husband calls me a 'high maintenance' woman, because I need to give a lot to myself to maintain my peace. |
