Well, there are all sorts of things that a person can do to stay on track. If you need to bring anything to the big to-do, make sure its as healthy as you can possibly make it. Be sure not to arrive hungry. Keep a water glass on your hands... being well hydrated can help prevent you from feeling hungry. Be social... and remember its RUDE to talk with your mouth full! If you are talking a lot, you cant possibly be shoveling the food in your face, right?

T-day is a perfect time to be using an occasional splurge, so that you can feel free to have a LITTLE extra (like 1/2 piece of pie). Make sure you load up your plate with 1/2 veggies and/or salad, 1/4 starch, 1/4 protien. DO NOT take home leftovers, and if its at your place then send those leftovers home with other people!

If the people are pushing food on you, dont feel compelled to eat just because its there. YOU HOLD THE FORK! What you eat is really none of their business.

Remember that this is just 1 meal. If you eat more than you intended to, forgive yourself and move on.

Take care,
Angela

I may just bring my JC Turkey w/gravy, not the same I know, I love leftover turkey sandwiches with all the fixings, so for me I think i can stay more focused just eating JC lol.

Also my fav with turkey dinner is deviled eggs, and well I found a recipe for deviled eggs using cauliflower, havn't made it yet, but thought maybe if I make some of my own food and bring it.

Angela
That advice was very, very helpful to me!! When I attend my sister's Thanksgiving dinner, I will have those thoughts to remember. I am fortunate to have my family being so very supportive in my efforts.

Thanksgiving has to be one of the hardest meals to not PIG OUT! I will just have a little of everything and stop when I'm full which shouldn't take long. I would rather have a spoonful of everything then deprive myself and end up splurging. I will definitely have a hand in what goes in the food since I'm cooking it.
Good Luck Everyone on this one.

thanks everyone for all the ideas. I guess I just grew up with a family that thinks if it isn't smothered in butter or grease and if you don't have at least 3 helpings then it isn't good. But at least my husband is very supportive.

Y'all take care,
mommybear

Above is a menu for eating a mix of Jenny Craig food and your own home cooked food for Thanksgiving.

Also on the home page of this site is a nice video too.

Good luck and it is just one day.

www.jennycraig.com/thanksgiving/

The page above will link you to the Thanksgiving Webisode which is really helpful. Also, your center should soon have the Holiday Survival Guide. They are fairly inexpensive and I don't know if they are doing it this year, but last year, in the back of the guide there was a coupon for a free entree which made up for most of the cost of the guide!

I would love to see the recipe that you have for deviled eggs using cauliflower. I tried a google search but didn't find much.

Thanks! smile.gif

I agree with JPDS. If this thing is long term, then there is going to come a time when I am NOT on JC food. I plan on sticking with my JC meals for lunch and breakfast. And eating anything I want for dinner. However, I will take small spoonfuls of everything and try and stop when I am full. NOT when I am roll me out the door stuffed. Though to be honest that will probably happen;)

mommybear,
my favortite tip for social event portions is to eat slowly. people are less likely to notice how much or how little you ate if it takes the same amount of time. try putting your fork down with eat bite or maybe getting up and going to the kitchen to refill your beverage. good luck!
