The microwave pizzas taste way better if you let them defrost and then just cook them one minute. They actually taste close to pizza then.

I really haven't disliked anything yet except the potstickers. I love tofu but for some reason i got nauseated after eating that meal. Might have just been something else but I haven't ordered it again. I haven't tried any of the shelf stable meals except the chili con carne, which I like and the ravioli. The ravioli tasted like chef boyardee. I had the same problem when I tried Nutrisystem and what I used to do was spoon out a lot of sauce and added plain crushed tomatoes instead with a few herbs. Taste way better. Even still, It's probably my least favorite meal that I tried.

I like the turkey burger, meatloaf, mac and cheese (I add a little grated 2% sharp cracker barrel), salsbury steak. The meat is decent compared to what I thought it would be. It's so strange that some of you don't like them. My favorites are the sirloin with rice, turkey burger and mesquite chicken.

I am not a big fan of the breakfast scramble, salad kits, chicken and beans, that tortellini in a can, chicken pasta parmesan.

I have had a major brain fart because I was putting a lot of the shelf foods in the freezer!!! This is my 5th week!!! Thank goodness I read this thread.....

QUOTE(slimgirlny @ Feb 24 2008, 09:06 AM) *
After almost 4 weeks on JC, the only foods I don't like are the mexican chicken tortilla soup (too watery and spicy) and the Italian wedding soup (also very watered down), these are both bowl soups but the homestyle chicken soup in the box is awesome! The tuna salad kit I didn't like but the chicken salad is okay, especially if you put it on top of a salad of greens and tomatoes with dressing.

I am afraid to try the salisbury steak, it sounds gross to me, what does everyone else think?

The shelf foods so far have been very good ( and cheaper than the frozen too) I like the lentils w/ beef (very filling), I didn't mind the sweet and sour chicken. I chose the cheese tortellini thinking it was a frozen dinner and was shocked when I got home and saw it comes in a tiny little CAN?! But you'd be surprised how many tortellini they can shove in that can. a lot of sauce too, just wish I could have used some italian bread to eat it all up! biggrin.gif

Slim:

The meatloaf and salisbury steak are my favorites. I like almost all of the frozen food, but not many of the shelf stable foods. Just try them all. I think it all comes down to personal preference. I generally don't like italian foods so thats probably why I don't like the shelf stable food much.

I said this in the old thread.. I can't believe so many people don't like the potstickers. That's one of my favorites!!! I went to PF Changs and tasted one of my husbands potstickers and I would soooo much rather JC's. He thought I was crazy.

My least favs : The salad kits, although I did like the turkey kit. I don't care for the soups & the cheese ravioli. Everything else I really like.

I actually really like the chicken salad kit!
I also really like the pot stickers!

Guess I am weird!

I do not like the tortellini
Don't like the marinara sauce

Can't stand most of the shelf life foods at all. Yuck!

I'm glad I came on here because thanks to some of you girls I will NOT be trying the tuna/cat food kits
I'm pretty scared !! hahaha There are still a few things I have not yet tried, but here's the ones I have.

My dislikes of the Jenny Cuisine are as follows :

Garden Vegetable soup - couldn't eat it, tasted like vomit
Swedish Meatballs - ew . nothing swed about em :-/

Beef sirloin w/ rice - It's okay if you like tiny flat cubes of beef having been cooked all day in the sun on rocks .. gross !
Chicken Pasta Parmesan - it scares me . has a very funky tase . ick

Best of luck to all on the Jenny program smile.gif

When I started the program in June I quickly learned that I did not want any shelf stable food items...I did try a few and have kept a small stock of items just in case I want to shake things up a bit...

I also had thoughts about "emergency"food items...shelf stable foods...tornadoe alley here in Dallas...

I would not purchase the tuna kit...yuck...I have so blocked out the food choices that I don't care for that I couldn't even write them out...

As mentioned above personal preference will always be different person to person...the only true way to find out if you like or dislike a JC food item is to try it...

Good luck on your journey...

Thanks, one-of-a-kind

Hi Lagoon,

How do you grill the muffins? in the oven or toaster oven? And what temperature do you use?

Thanks in advance!

Like many of you, I wish I had some of this info when I first started. But I guess it is also a matter of personal taste.

I absolutely loath the tuna and salad kits....and dislike the shelf food. And I refuse to eat any of the "Italian" items with tomato sauce. But unlike some of I like more lunch options than dinner. I am really struggling with the dinner options and I really only enjoy and look forward to is the fajitas. Based on some suggestions, I will try to liven up some entrees.... thanks biggrin.gif

I used to love to read this thread on the old boards...always good for a laugh...

The salad kits are DISGUSTING - cat food kits is right...

I also don't like the mac & cheese -which shocked me as I expected to like it...

I'm a little nervous now about the potato soup, wldgrl - I just ordered it for the first time! Uh oh! Someone posted a way to thicken it up with spinach and add some shredded (low fat ) cheese to it...maybe this will help?? unsure.gif

I just had the potato soup for the first time today and it tasted fine to me. I have done nutrisystem and this food is a total upgrade!

Agree with the turkey burger assessment-BLLLLECCCCHHHHH! Choked that one down today. NEVER again! My JCC says it's the most popular meal in the whole program. And the cat food salad kits are nasty like everyone says.

But I have to say, there are very few things I really hate. The Salisbury steak is actually ok-add some fresh mushrooms and it's even better. I even like the most of the shelf food, especially the beef stroganoff, which I hear is a seasonal item. The BBQ chicken and beans is yummy, too. The pizzas don't bother me at all.

Guess the answer is, it;s really a personal decision. Stay away from the cat food, and you'll be fine!

I'm not crazy about their Italian red sauce stuff in general either. Of course, I am half Sicilian and a foodie so I'm a tough audience. Then again I recently had the Lean Cuisine Spaghetti and Meat Sauce and I really liked it a lot. What a surprise! So it is possible. Something about the tofu in the penne pasta is not appetizing from my point of view. And the shelf stable stuff is yukky.

I just have to say that I am surprised at all the people who love the Salisbury Steak. I find the flavors bland and the sauce a bit gelatinous and pukey in consistency. And the potatoes are also bland and cardboard-like. I only like the meatloaf marginally better because of the barbecue flavor but the potatoes are similar. I loved the Sirloin Rice Bowl, though.

I went to my consultation today--the beef meals that I wanted: meatloaf and salisbury steak, I was told 'the warehouse was out of'. Also, the tortilla soup.

My least favorite menu item is the potstickers and the potato soup. I don't order any of the desserts since I am a 'salty/crunchy' gal. Not into the sweets but LOVE the salty/crunchy snacks.

Hope everyone had a good week--I was down 4 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS--I do like the "cat food kits" for convenience; I mix them with my salad green and other vegetables. Isn't as gastly. I think it has a lot to do with the reduced fat and added corn starch/sugar. I don't care for the reduced calorie fare.

I do love any of the Paul Newmans dressing--the sprays salad dressing are 10 calories for 10 sprays. Doesn't count as a fat but definitely adds flavor to an iceberg/veggie salad where you think you are eating something substantial.

Least favorite breakfasts are the muffins. I found the banana and bluebery muffins were a bit sticky. Too much like a dessert to me.

I don't like a lot of the shelf stable foods. I absolutely HATE the Pasta Fagioli! The only shelf stable foods I DO like are the Rotini with Meatballs and Ravioli.

I don't like the salad kits. They looked like cat food.
I've never been a big soup eater so I skip those.
I don't care for the Macaroni and Cheese. I have to have meat in my meal. I can't just eat macaroni.
Bruschetta Veggie Chips leave a disgusting taste in my mouth.

My favourite breakfast foods are the french toast, Breakfast Scramble, Silver Dollar Pancakes and Breakfast Stuffed Sandwich. I used to love the Sunshine Sandwich but I'm getting sick of it.

Least favourite would be the muffins and the Fruit and Granola.

This was my first week on Jenny Craig. I loved almost all the food, but there were a couple of things I didn't care for.

I will not get the Mexican Tortilla Soup again. I can see how some people might like it, but it just didn't suit my taste.

I burned the Pesto Pizza in the microwave. I microwaved it according to instructions, but it burned. It got stuck to the silver stuff on the tray, and when I tried to get it off the try, the silver stuff came off with it, so I didn't eat it.
