Hi,
I've been doing Jenny for 3 weeks now. I've lost 10 pounds of my 30 and I feel great. I'm so happy that many of the meals are meatless. I've been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian for more than 12 years. Not too many dieting options for vegetarians when we need a little help. I'm hoping to hit my goal weight by the new year. To meet that goal, I would need to lose an average of a little more than a pound per week, over the next 14 weeks. It may take a bit longer and that is ok too. I would sure like to ring in the new year in those skinny jeans that are hanging in my closet!

Welcome. I too have been a vegetarian for over 12 years. I agree with the difficulties of dieting. As an ovolacto, it's really easy to eat nothing but starches all day. Convenience can be a killer. Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks for the welcome Timshel. I fully understand the too much starch. My problems start when I get lazy. We can eat so many fruits and veggies and they taste wonderful. I just don't want to take the time to buy them and prepare them. The Jenny vegetarian meals are pretty starchy but if I eat my fruits and veggies along with it, I feel so much better. I need to get a couple new vegetarian light cooking cookbooks and start getting creative in the kitchen again.

It's good to know I'm not the only lazy vegetarian. I've found a lot of good, light recipes off of the Internet that aren't too difficult to make. I'm just glad to know there are lots of lowfat/lowcal desserts since I'm a dessert FIEND.

I've got a sweet tooth also. Being on Jenny has reminded me how much I love the taste of fresh fruit.

I'm considering joining, but am worried about the lack of variety for pescatarians (like me!) - only 5 different dinner entrees? What do you all do for variety??

After about week one, I started to incorporate my own meals and other vegetarian frozen meals into the plan. My first counselor was a vegetarian, so she was definitely understanding of this. I am EXTREMELY picky, so if I can make it work, I'm sure anyone can. Good luck to you, regardless of what you decide to do!

Can you tell me what types of meals you used to supplement (your own and frozen)?

I am now on maintenance, and these are some of the things I eat (other than Jenny):
Breakfast--Cereal with milk and fruit -or- Eggos Whole Grain Waffle Cinnamon flavor (1) with I Can't Believe Its Not Butter Spray and a Morningstar Farms Veggie Sausage
Lunch & Dinner Options--
Frozen/On My Own--Morningstar Farms Chick'n Nuggets with Veggies and/or Salad
-Morningstar Farms Chicken Strips marinated in ff italian with veggies and/or salad
-Corn Dogs or Hot Dogs with veggies and/or salad
Frozen--Safeway's Eating Right Vegetarian Masala
-Smart Ones Angel Hair Marinara
-Lean Cuisine Vegetable Egg Roll
-Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice potatoes with broccoli
Completely on my own--veggie tacos (made with morningstar faux ground beef) and spaghetti are my faves
Hope this helps.

That does help - did you start with the 20 lbs for $20 and then buy into one of the other programs? My husband is really skeptical of my doing this with frozen foods. I typically prepare fresh foods and some prepared (Amy's enchiladas, Costco quiches) but need some structure and accountability!

I started with the rewards program, but I have made back more than enough money. I understand your husband's concerns. It's whatever works for you though. With my work schedule, cooking is a rarity. When I get home, I just want to heat and eat.
