So, my center director let me know this week that they are no longer accepting vegetarians onto the program. Slowly....kicking us out completely.

Why does my consultant say she's never heard of such a thing every time I ask her...and we still have veggie burgers and nothing seems to have changed here (in WA state). Is it different everywhere or are we just uninformed? How do we find out or do something about it? This is scary!

I am not exactly sure. My center is a coporate center and not a franchise. I am in San Francisco, California.

I have been on the program for a while but just joined the message board. I am not a vegetarian but I am trying to phase meat out of my diet, and I was unhappy to hear that they are discontinuing the Florentine Ravioli and replacing it with a canned cheese ravioli. It is also disheartening to hear that they are dropping the vegetarian option. Is there any kind of petition on here to bring it back? I know that even the most meat-eating people on the program must have liked the Florentine ravioli, and they would certainly not be against signing a petition to bring it and other vegetarian entrees back.

They have been eliminating veggie options over the course of the year. Just too few choices left to make it worth while I guess...

Science: Are you not kidding? My god I am presently intaking less meat for I have gained so much weight with the baby. I am not on the system as of yet for this reason...pregnant.
Did they indicate as to the what's and why? I had not the notion that the impact of foods with less protein could not be maintained otherwise. WOW. Was it because of lack of quantity of sales for non meat products? Sorry to be the stickler, but I am really shocked! Kuhny |

Oh I can't deal without the florentine ravioli..I eat that for dinner 4x a week.
I hope this all ends up not to be true because the program fits so easily into my busy lifestyle. Love the no brainer aspect of it, but if it's true then I'll have to move on.. |

Thanks for posting everyone.
As of now, there are no plans to discontinue the Florentine Ravioli. The Cheese Ravioli was a temporary item. We, as always, welcome vegetarian clients. Our program is not appropriate for vegans or those that avoid dairy or eggs. Sorry for any misinformation that you received. Best Wishes. |

Thanks JCDietician for clearing that up, I really hope that the Florentine Ravioli stays for a long time. I think when it goes, I'll have to go because I can't eat pasta fagoili for dinner 7 days a week.
sciencegeniousgirl, maybe there was just some kind of mixup. I'd ask them more about it when you go back. |

I asked my center specifically today what was going on. This is what they said....JC is not eliminating veggie options, but the director is telling vegetarians that there are very limited choices and that it may not be the best program for them and advising them to look else where.

quote: Interesting that they do that instead of adding more options. Even the non-vegetarians would benefit from the variety.. Even so, I don't think it's that bad yet. Well maybe if you're the type who needs more variety..I tend to get into food-ruts anyways, so it works for me. |

Ya know, when I first joined in Nov '05, the center director tried to discourage me from joining as well, saying I would not lose weight with pasta all the time. Hello! This was a center director. Anyway, one of the other women overheard her and said I absolutely could lose weight with the non-meat options. And here I am, 29 lbs lighter and only 6 lbs from goal. BTW, I haven't seen her there for a few months, maybe she got the boot.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat much meat, and I'm real real picky about the meat that I do eat. I hope Jenny Craig continues to offer non-meat options. I love the veggie sausage with the silver dollar pancakes. And I agree with you all...Florentine ravioli is yummy. I'm not as thrilled with the canned spinach tortellini..they are a little mushy, although I do choose them each week.

Me either in issue of eating alot of meat. I am not about to change what the Doctor has given as rules for my continual delivery time to come. I am however, very interested in hearing less of the meat of this and that, and hearing of the tempting courses for consumption with vegetables. I even welcome Polenta...where is the Italian in us? LOL We should grab to sites of making a move to having a word for uses...making some additional thoughts with their science and research with nutrition? I'd like to think it is with minds of man and woman that make the world up. Well, don't mind me... I am looking forward to joining full pledge in the time to come! I am on the high risk side so the thoughts of moving in here are out on issue(s).
Thanks! Jaime especially coming back and giving word! The others again without you I have not ears for I am not here or there...well here but not in cycle of program...yet! Best to you Kuhny |

I think when JC gets rid of the meals that us veggies love to eat because they feel they are not making enough money off of us, then they should allow Super Markets and Health Food Stores to carry the non veggie items that we love and miss so very much.
I "LOVE" JC original Veggie Burgers. I have tried all of the rest, but they were the best. I love Mickey D's quarter pounder with cheese and wanted to give it up because it was a meat item and JC Veggie Burgers helped me to do that. JC would make a fortune if we JC veggie people could drive up to a Mickey D's window and order JC Veggie Burger with a slice of 90 cal cheese. It would be out of this world and we all would profit from it in more ways than one. I did not like the Veggie Burgers that JC had after new owners took over and started putting whole pieces of veggie in it. I liked the grounded up version a whole lot better. The Past Ole' was wonderful on a bed of lettuce with a dab of sour cream or on a cup of broccoli florets. Since JC no longer carries it, they should also allow Super Markets and Health Food Stores to sell it and let us have the option of purchasing it at Wendy's or Taco Bell or some Mexican Fast Food place. JC Spinach and Cheese Raviolis were out of this world also. JC should make it available at for us in other places as well. Maybe JC freezers aren't big enough to carry all the meals that we like too. If that is the case they should allow us to purchase it at other places. That would be a better option than discontinuing meals that we love to eat. When people are able to purchase some JC meals at fast food places, super markets and Health Food stores, they might realize how delicious JC meal are and might want to join as well. Man I loved the carrot cakes that JC had. What's up with that? How hard would it be for JC to have kept that option for us? I have been trying for years to get JC to give us the options of more muffins. They are delicious, and handy for us girls who are on the run. Working full time and taking care of a family full time and trying to take care of ourselves as well. I would have loved to have JC carrot nut muffins and zucchini nut muffins and cho chip muffins. They should knock down a wall in the JC centers in order to have room for larger freezers for us veggie people. They could use the lobby area for their store meetings after hours. Come on JC! You can do this for us! It will help your business to grow even more so! I would love to have the option of purchasing JC veggies alone also. JC makes the best veggies. And why not a JC ice cream sandwich? If Skinny cow can do it and other weight loss centers, so can JC. I would love a JC protein drink once in a while for those hectic days, or for days when you are ill and really do not have an appetite. Looking forward to better days on JC. The little bit of money that JC would use to make these changes would pay for itself in no time at all. |

Not a vegetarian by any means, but the post intrigued me, so I wanted to see what the deal was. I am glad that JC isn't kicking out the vegetarians. I also LOVE the Florentine Ravioli, I get 3-4 every week and would be floored if they discontinued. My suggestion to JC, is that if they don't have room for all of these options in the stores, maybe they could make some things available only by shipping a la Jenny Direct. I joined after the Pasta Ole left, but have read so many posts about it, I am sure people would be happy to have the option of ordering it and having it shipped. I never got the chance to taste it, but I adore carrot cake and though I would continue to go to my center, I would place a bulk order of carrot cake once a month. Just a thought. In fact, I think I will find the suggestions portion and repost there. Hope everyone is having a good (skinny) Memorial Day weekend!!

The only meat I eat is seafood, so I'm pretty much a vegetarian when it comes to JC food (other than the fish n chips). I really miss a lot of items posted in this thread too, especially the original veggie burger, the pasta ole, and that yummy carrot cake. I also liked the spinach ravioli, the southwestern ramon, and even the cheese souffle. Whatever happened to all these great items?
I like the idea of giving us the option to still order them on-line if the stores don't want to carry them. Please JC, stop eliminating vegetarian foods! |
