I know I am not the only one with this feeling. I have found an alternative program that has a dedicated vegetarian program. And, it's cheaper per month than JC. I have pasted the information if anyone is interested. At the bottom is the vegetarian food section. Just look at all of the different foods available for us.
NutriSystem® Nourish™ All-Vegetarian Program Our All-Vegetarian Program gives you a simple approach to losing weight while maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle. It features great-tasting, prepackaged NutriSystem® Nourish™ vegetarian meals and desserts (see complete list below) that you choose online (or on the phone), and that arrive on your doorstep. In fact, it's the only prepackaged vegetarian diet program available! All of the NutriSystem vegetarian entrees are either ready to eat immediately, or prepare in just a couple of minutes in the microwave or by adding a little hot water. So, no matter how difficult it has been in the past, there is now an easy way to enjoy a healthy, balanced vegetarian weight loss plan. We designed the NutriSystem All-Vegetarian Program to include low Glycemic Index carbohydrates and optimal amounts of protein and fiber, yet to still be low in fat! Each one of our vegetarian foods fits into your NutriSystem Vegetarian meal plan that lets you eat great foods five times a day. Just grab an entrée, add-in a few grocery items (like fresh fruits, vegetables and salads), and you're ready to go. It takes all the work out of creating a nutritionally-balanced vegetarian diet! And since all of the meals provide the correct portion of food, there is no weighing, measuring or counting calories and points. It's a no-brainer plan that fuels your metabolism for maximum weight loss results! Plus, you can call or email our counselors, nutritionists and dietitians for free and without ever going to a meeting. Wow, I can't believe all of their offerings.
It really makes one think twice. I'm curious how much cheaper than Jenny it is. Oh, about the lunch selections...Is the Bacon and Cheddar Masher made with vegetarian bacon, or was that there by mistake? |

I looked closely at this before joining JC as I am vegetarian but I just heard too many negatives about the food taste, I decided it was better, for me anyway, to have good taste over more options.
Does anyone know if there is any talk maybe from JC to bring in some more options for us who dont eat meat? |

Another option is Diet-to-go. The food tastes great, however it is more expensive than NS and can be more than JC since you have to pay to ship frozen.

WOW! I'm jealous at all the pasta and egg selections that they have that don't include dead animals. So often I wish JC had a fettucine that didn't include the chicken or chili made with meatless crumbles or an egg breakfast that didn't have turkey --- My whole diet experience for dinners is exclusively Italian: Florentine Ravioli, Penne Pasta Bolognese and Traditional Lasagna. I WOULD love some alternatives for breakfast and dinner. Still, I'm sooo grateful to have the dishes with meatless crumbles Maybe I could have some Nutrisystem food shipped to me and integrate it in with my JC diet ---

Hi,
In the meantime, should we all write letters to JC? Is there a petition? IT would be good to make our voices heard! I would love to see 2-week's worth of vegetarian menu items. More variety would be nice. Us veggies should stand up and make our voices heard. I would kill for a good mac and cheese on this plan and more ethnic food options. |

Hello Fellow Veggies:
I am feeling your pain with the limited veggie food selections. I think I will pen a letter right now to JC and see what response they have. I'm bummed too about the pasta ole..... [*]null |

I am not a vegetarian, but i do like to eat meatless 3-4 times a week. I totally agree with you that JC needs to be adding, not taking away vegetarian foods. But, Nutrisystem is not the answer. I have done it, and the food is almost inedible. I don't know of anybody who has lasted more than a month on it. I do think we need to write to the JC corporate office though..

The mac & cheese tastes a little "hot" to me...like it has too much pepper or something...and i'm not a fan of the string beans with the dish. How about just plain mac & cheese? I can add my own veggies. Thanks!

RE: NUTRI SYSTEM NOURISH - - I am returning to JC next week after a few years of maintaining (and a little gaining). When I began to gain, I tried this program becuase of the vegetarian options. I was unable to eat a LOT of the meals because SO MANY of them contain Jalapeno Peppers. I understand 'diet' food needs some taste, but the high level of spice was outstand my range of comfort, and I'll be returning to JC. The grass was not greener on the side of Nutri System for me. I have lots of their food if you want to buy it from me at pennies on the dollar!

I agree with all of you. I told my consultant that I just couldn't eat JC meals all the time because of their limited vegetarian selection (some of them pretty bad), and that I was going to branch out with Boca burgers and other frozen dinners, so I could have more choices. I too found some of their veg. dishes to hot. So far I'm much happier with more (and less expensive choices.) We'll see how it works.

JC makes us veggie clients feel like they couldn't care less about us and they make us feel like they are trying to get rid of us. JC makes us feel unappreciated as JC clients.
I tried the other program and the food did not taste good at all. I had to force myself to eat their food. JC's meals are the best, they just do not think or care about their veggie clients. I love the Pasta O'le on a bed of lettuce or on a plate of broccoli florets or all mixed up with some string beans. They took away our one and only menu and they are starting to take away our veggie meals as well. And what they have left they are ruining! I used to love JC Veggie Burgers and now they are putting red peppers in them! Yuck!!!!!! Yuck ! Disappointed in JC not showing us the proper respect as their clients. It makes us fell hurt, sad and mad! |

Just some suggestions: I don't eat beef, pork or poultry of any kind -- I'm a seafood vegetarian and I order and enjoy:
Breakfasts: French Toast Banana Nut & Blueberry Muffins 7 Grain Hot Cereal Lunch: Personal and Pesto Pizzas Broccoli Cheese Potato Tuna Salad Kit Dinners: Mac & Cheese (which is delicious) Traditional Lasagna (the best balanced meal on the program!!!) Penne Bolognese Florentine Ravioli Fish N Chips Shrimp Stir Fry MY WISH LIST: Oh dear I hope someone somewhere reads this that can have a little pull at the chef's table: CHILI made with meatless crumbles (the fake sausage is groce! I don't do silver dollar pancakes for that reason) EGG Sandwich with cheese (hold the dead bird) Fettucine -plain Mexican beans and rice w/cheddar cheese Spinach and mushroom white pizza an omelette w/veggies and cheese!!!! (umm we live in a low carb nation now and JC doesn't have an omelette???) and I know this will never ever ever happen but it's a wish list: BBQ Salmon - had it in a restaurant before I started the program and it was fabulous!!! |

Hey Everyone,
I hear what you're all saying. I'm finding it more and more difficult to eat well as a vegetarian on this program. I love the food I do get to eat, but there are so few options, especially if you don't eat any meat products. I was disapointed to find out that all of these meals have animal byproducts, although it isn't written explicitly in the ingredients: Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, Cheesy Enchilada (with tofu!), and Pesto Pizza, among others. Just today I heard they are removing Pasta Ole from the menu. That's my favorite dish! Especially for lunch, where now my only options are: Jenny's Personal Pizza, Garden Veggie Soup (not a big fan), Creamy Potato Soup (just ok), and Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Potato. I'm thinking about talking to my consultant about doing more meals on my own (for lunch), even though I haven't reached my halfway point yet, because the selection is getting rediculous. I'm finding I'm eating pizza all the time. I love the Jenny program, and it's thankfully working really well for me. I just wish they could bring in some more veggie options (that aren't Italian!) and BRING BACK PASTA OLE!!! |

Hi:
I started JC yesterday,.. am very excited about losing weight as I have many health problems. But I now have a serious doubt because of the animal products. Please tell me how you found out about the animal products in these meals, and where would I have to go to find out explicitly which meals have them? Thanks. |

Hi,
I didn't meat to at all discourage you from doing the program. I'm also a veggie and am finding success so far through it- so don't give up! The way you know which foods have animal byproducts in them is simple- the only vegetarian foods are those with a carrot next to them on the little menu. SNACKS W/ ANIMAL BYPRODUCTS -raspberry swirl cheesecake -turkey jerky snack menu: link: http://www.jennycraig.com/myjenny/menu/pro...try=US&Option=3 ONLY VEGETARIAN DINNERS ON MENU -Florentine Ravioli -Jenny's Rising Crust Pizza -Pasta Fagioli -Penne Pasta -Traditional Lasagna -Veggie Burger dinner menu link: http://www.jennycraig.com/myjenny/menu/pro...try=US&Option=3 I mentioned all the vegetarian options JC has for lunch in my post last week (not much). I'm a little concerned now again though because next to the carrot it says "= Meatless (Certain items may contain small amounts of animal by-products.)" I was not told about this. I'm going to try and find out more when I go into my center next week. I really hope though that you stick with the program despite your concerns about the animal byproducts. Your health is the most important thing! I think. am going to try and make lunches on my own because of the slim pickins. Hope this helps! |
